Well, as from January 1st, 2018 WhatsApp will stop working on some smartphone, which means that some phone users using any of the affected smart phones listed below won't be able to run WhatsApp on their phone as from January 1st, 2018.

However, according to dailypost the writer stated in his post that, WhatsApp wrote is a blog post that "While these mobile devices has been an important part of their story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities they need to expand their app’s features in the future and it was a tough decision for them to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp.

“If you use one of these affected mobile devices, they recommend you upgrade to a newer Android phone, iPhone, or Windows Phone". Anyways, the affected phones are  Blackberry 10, Windows Phone 8.0 or any smartphone running Blackberry OS.
